Just the other day someone asked me what I did to earn money and I told them that I work from home. Shocked by what I said, she responded with the old cliche, "There  is no such thing as a work at home job". As a matter of fact, she believed that the only way you can earn money online is by blogging.  Either for someone else or for your own site.  I do realize and completely understand why many people feel this way and that is exactly why I started this blog and my other site at Workersonboard to dispel the myths about working at home and to reveal the truth about how more and more companies today are hiring "home based workers".



The truth is there are more scams online then there are legitimate work at home jobs.  But there really are several well-known companies that hire people to work from their home office.  More than I myself realized.  Strong verbal, written, communication, and comprehension skills
 High school education or GED preferred

It seems that data entry work at home jobs are very hard to come by and are the most sought out fields in the work at home job market.  Why is that?  For the most part, a lot of these companies do not require that you have any previous experience which means that you may stand a greater chance of landing a data entry job or a work at home job in general.  It can be less intimidating as well because you may not have to undergo extensive testing, background checks, resumes to upload, and so forth.  With that being said, it is still quite a challenge to find legitimate data entry companies to apply to online but I have found a few companies that currently have an ongoing need for data entry keyers to work from home.  

Some things you may need:

Type at the least 30 wpm up to 70 wpm

Type accurately with very little mistakes

A good keyboard that will help you to excel in your typing skills

An up to date web browser like IE 8, Google Chrome, and other compatible web browsers

Tip: You do not necessarily have to be the fastest typist in order work from home data entry job.  It is more important if you can type accurately because the speed will come later.  Companies would rather select a candidate that can type accurately at a slower pace than a very fast typist with several mistakes.

Remember if a particular company is not hiring right now, you can always check back at a later date.  If you have already applied to a company and have not heard anything from them in a few weeks or so, you could always contact them via email or through some other forms of correspondence to find out what your status is.  Here are some companies that you can try below.

I finally made a video about how you can improve your chances of actually getting a work at home job.  I mostly post the latest work at home job opportunities on my official website at Workersonboard, which I posted today on the weekly job section that you can view here, as well as this blog and I thought it was long overdue for me to share exactly what employers are looking for and how you can have an edge over your competition.  If you have not had very much success in getting that work from home job and you have been applying to almost every company you can think of, this post and video below may be helpful to you.



I did leave an important part out of the video that I will share here in this post.  This is in regard to your interview.  This tip may sound strange but it can prove to be an asset and even increase your chances of getting a work at home job.  If your interview will be handled over the telephone, it may be a good idea to stand up when talking with your potential employer.  Why?  Because it will improve the overall quality of your voice.  It allows your lungs to get more air and you will breathe more easily and naturally.  If you apply this technique, your voice will be more confident and you will be more relaxed in general.  Sometimes interviews can create a bit of nervousness so standing up can help to eliminate this problem.

Not only can this simple technique help you in the employer's impression about you but it can also be used when you are working in sales or cold calling.  There are several work at home jobs in sales, which are mostly commission based.  If you happen to have a work at home job that involves cold calling or sales, incorporate this technique regularly.  It may increase your earnings and turn those calls into sales for you.
